Aviation Leaders Gather in New Delhi for IATA’s 81st Annual General Meeting | AirwayBuzz Reports from New Delhi

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is bringing together the global aviation community for its 81st Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the World Air Transport Summit (WATS), taking place in New Delhi, India, from June 1 to 3, 2025. Representing our parent company, HavaSosyalMedya, we will be on the ground covering the event, which is set to host more than 1,700 participants including industry leaders, government officials, and media representatives. IndiGo is the official host airline of the summit, where Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to deliver the keynote speech.

IATA Director General Willie Walsh highlighted that hosting the AGM in India after a 42-year gap underscores the country’s rising influence in global aviation. The sector currently supports 369,000 direct jobs in India, while its overall economic contribution reaches 7.7 million jobs and a total impact of $53.6 billion.

Throughout the summit, key issues such as the airline industry’s financial outlook, net-zero goals, sustainable aviation fuels, and energy security will be in focus through high-level CEO panels and sustainability-driven sessions. The event will also feature the presentation of the “Diversity & Inclusion Awards,” recognizing individuals and organizations supporting IATA’s 25by2025 initiative aimed at improving gender balance in aviation.
